Kyoto Suit: Upcycled kimonos destined for disposal, created in collaboration with Kyoto University.
While sustainability has recently gained attention as a societal theme, The Ritz-Carlton Kyoto was an early pioneer in advancing this value and bringing it to life.
We resonated with their vision and worked together from planning through execution.

The runway models wearing Kyoto suits are international students from Kyoto University.
In an era demanding diversity, it goes without saying that this casting is also meticulously curated.

To create a Japanese show with a high perspective, it requires not only clothing but also the sound and spatial arrangements that enhance the runway. A show that merely follows trends is counterproductive; it must be deeply rooted.

Kyoto suits are manufactured locally in Kyoto.
Kimonos slated for disposal are collected at Kyoto University, dismantled at welfare facilities in Kyoto, and then sent to Kyoto sewing factories for completion.

Once that day concludes, the values of sustainability remain permanently installed within the space as part of The Ritz-Carlton’s identity for a period of time. They have been integrated with Japan’s policy of delivering the highest level of hospitality while contributing to social issues.
